How physically demanding is the tour?

My tour seeks to get you away from the tourist hordes, so the trails I take my guests on are varied. Some of them are paved, easy and flat, whilst some of them are unpaved, bumpy and occasionally have trip hazards like exposed trees roots and rocks.

Most importantly, my aim is to give you a wilderness experience that is different from the vast majority of tours to the Blue Mountains.

The Blue Mountains landscape is a plateau dissected with large canyons which usually means the trails follow the edges of the canyons & involve stairs that take you down to lookouts. This means climbing down as well as back up along formed trails that are a mixture of steps, slopes & flat sections. I vary my itinerary based on the general fitness level of the group & other factors such as the weather and avoiding crowds. I estimate that my most strenuous option would involve a total climb of 75 metres (250 feet) of elevation spread out across the day. The total amount of walking spread throughout the day would be around 2 hours

I like to go slow & easy on the trails so that everyone gets an opportunity to absorb the natural beauty & take photographs along the way. It’s meant to be an immersive nature experience rather than an athletic challenge, but having said that, if you are not someone who does at least some regular walking &/or light physical activity, it might be outside of your comfort zone.

I often have people in their 70’s doing my tour without any issues. Although, they are usually people who engage in regular walking and/or light physical activity.

Regardless of this - there are easy alternatives to each of the walks which you would be able to do instead of the more difficult walk the rest of the group does. Also, some of the activities like seeing the wild kangaroos, the “Three Sisters” lookout and “Govetts Leap” don’t require any walking at all. â€‹

Are there any age restrictions?

  • Due to the nature of the activities, we cannot accept children under the age of 12. If you are traveling as a family with young children please consider booking a private tour so we can tailor an experience to your needs.

  • All children under the age of 18 need to be accompanied by an adult.

  • The tour would generally not be suitable for people over the age of 75, but if you are a fit & active older person that can manage up to 20,000 steps & 20 flights of stairs throughout the day, then absolutely you are welcome to join us.

What should I bring?

  • Re-fillable water bottle

  • Hat

  • Sunscreen

  • Sunglasses

  • An extra warm layer like a sweater or a wind breaker. The weather in the Blue Mountains can go from sweltering in the morning to chilly in the evening, and regularly does.

  • A decent rain jacket.

  • Sturdy footwear. Due to the terrain, thongs and light sandals are not recommended!

  • Small & light day pack containing just the essentials.

  • Motion sickness medication if you need it.

  • Your curiosity & sense of adventure!

What's for lunch?

  • Lunch will be a traditional Aussie pie from an award winning local Blue Mountains patisserie. Vegetarian, vegan & gluten free options are available - no advance notice is needed.

  • Non-alcoholic drinks, coffee, tea & hot chocolate are available for you to purchase separately with your lunch.

  • If the weather is suitable, we'll enjoy our lunch as a picnic under the shade of Eucalyptus trees and in the company of cockatoos at one of the Blue Mountains lovely parks.

What kind of snacks will you have?

  • Nut bars, protein bars, potato chips, chocolate biscuits & small cakes will be available.

  • In the warmer months, chilled fruit will be made availble.

What can I expect to have at the twilight cheese & wine spread?
